Getting started with Tax in Practice Compliance

Use Tax to prepare and lodge tax returns online. With a streamlined online experience, you can access your tax software through your browser anywhere, at any time. To get started, you'll need to perform some one-off tasks.

Moving your returns from AE/AO to MYOB Practice Compliance? We'll guide you through some extra tasks you'll need to do in your desktop software.

Quick checklist before you begin

This checklist will make sure that you're all set up correctly so you have a smooth tax experience. These tasks are split between AE/AO and Practice Compliance.

Start your first online return

Before you start your first return,

Create tax returns

Prepare tax returns

  • Prepare tax return: Prepare individual, company, trust or partnership return. Use worksheets to calculate income and expenses, and ATO pre-fill.

Complete tax returns

  • Complete tax returns to use the workflow to see the different statuses of the tax return

    • Validate checks run as you enter data, helping you fix issues before approval and lodgement.

    • Lodge the return directly from Practice Compliance once it has been approved. Status writes back to AE/AO, so progress is visible on the desktop.

  • Delete the online return and recreate it in AE/AO desktop if you need to.

Additionally, you can use our other tools, such as Portal, Documents to collaborate with your customers.

Continue working in Practice Compliance

Tax in Practice Compliance is ready. Now you can start preparing and lodging returns.

  • Open the return from the cloud icon in AE/AO or from the Compliance page.

  • Status writes back to AE/AO, so progress is visible on the desktop.

  • Assets can roll forward from AE/AO. Review imported assets you move a client online.

  • Portal is optional but handy—set it up for digital signature from your client.
